Tag/Touch/Tackle for Year 5-7 Girls have their first fixture coming up and more tackle coaching is needed. Sundays - 12.30 start

Tag / Touch / Tackle

I have been taking a Girls Only Tag Rugby Session for Year 5/6/7 over the last season with approx 12 -15 girls turning up.
They have now mentioned that they want to take the game to the next stage and below is a '5 week plan of action'.

I would like to invite any girls of that age group to join our group for the following 5 weeks.

I have had contact with Nick Woodland, the head of U13 Player Development Program at NLD. (Notts Lincs and Derby)
He organises open sessions for girls who have the ability to play matches.
To get the girls up to that standard, he has offered to do some coaching to help our players get closer to full contact. He is Head of Women and Girls rugby at Melbourne RFC, where he and his coaching team coach successful sides for U11 and U13.

Sunday 30th October - 12.30 start at WBRFC
Coached by WBRFC coaches. (Help always appreciated!)
The first two sessions will be structured to introduce the girls gently into a bit of contact, by playing touch and hug rugby.

Sunday 6th November - 12.30 start at WBRFC
Coached by WBRFC coaches.
The first two sessions will be structured to introduce the girls gently into a bit of contact, by playing touch and hug rugby.

Sunday 13th November 2016 - At Melbourne RFC - 11.00am start
Starts at 11.00am.
Coaching by Nick Woodland.
Lunch break - 12.15pm (bring your own pack lunch)
Games - KO 1.30pm v Melbourne RFC and Mansfield RFC (U11 and U13)
The games would be in the form of 4 short games, progressing from touch rugby, hug rugby to contact rugby.
The girls can play up to their own confidence level and be able to watch and learn from the others.

Sunday 20th November - 12.30 start at WBRFC
This third session will progress from the previous week, to introduce the girls gently into a bit of contact, by playing touch and hug rugby.

Sunday 27th November - at West Bridgford RFC - Melbourne will bring along another team. - 12.30 meet
Melbourne RFC will come to WBRFC for a similar fixture as above.
Coaching by Nick Woodland.
Nick will aim to arrange for another club to join us to make sure our girls get game time.
KO will be at 1.30pm with a 12.30 meet at the club.

There are also future fixtures that we can go along to after these first two matches which are part of the NLD Development Programme.

I hope that you can join us.

Many thanks
