Three second half tries secured a vital bonus point win for West Bridgford against a strong Scunthorpe team with a great display of attacking rugby at Stamford Road.

A week on from pushing mid table Sandals RFC close, West Bridgford continued their improved form by overpowering Scunthorpe RFC to win by four tries to two. This fantastic result made it two in a row at home with a narrow win against local rivals Paviors RFC.

Scunthorpe started well and scored the first try of the game after just 5 minutes which was duly converted. West Bridgford were next to score with a well worked try finished off by centre Eden Kelly. Penalties were traded by both sides and Scunthorpe finished the half with their second try making it 8 - 15 at half-time.

On the 41 minute mark, Joe McMenamin received a yellow card, this seemed to spark the team into action to compensate for being a man down. Bridgford started to dominate and after multiple phases on the Scunthorpe line, Alex Smit burrowed through his forwards to score his first try since joining the club. Ben Dickinson added the conversion to draw the score level at 15-15.

Alex Smit was back in action again, taking a quick line out, the ball fizzed across the whole backline for Alex Wilson to dive in the opposite corner to score Bridgford's third try. Ben Dickinson struck the conversion from the side line into the wind to take the score to 22-15. Scunthorpe defended valiantly after Bridgford continued to push for their fourth try, on the 65th minute, Luke Risman finally broke through and scored taking the score to 27-15. The final score of the game came in the 74th minute with a penalty by Ben Dickinson.

Scunthorpe continued to push to the end but couldn't break down the Bridgford defence, however Will Wedgewood received a yellow card for a high tackle in the last minute of the game.

A real game of two halves with Bridgford scoring 22 unanswered points.
